H.E Ambassador Richard Opembe participated in a tree planting ceremony at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) in honour of the late Nobel Laureate Prof. Wangari Maathai.

  

The ceremony in collaboration with UAM university was held within the side-lines of the ongoing Women Nobel for Peace Exhibition (19th November -19 December 2019) at the University grounds. Kenya’s Noble laureate is among the Women Nobel Prize for Peace winners honoured for their exemplary and remarkable contribution and dedication to wards fostering sustainable peace and development across the world.

  

During the event, H.E Ambassador Opembe, Autonomous University Chancellor, Mr. Rafael Garesse and Vice Chancellor, Ms. Margarita Alfaro reiterated the importance of the sustainable environmental conservation and recognised the pioneering achievements of the late Prof. Wangari Maathai.

 

  

The occasion was graced by H.E Elizabeth Adjei, Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana and H.E Mariame SY, Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal who also took part during the tree planting ceremony
